Today we're talking about radio.

Radio and television work in the same way.

The source of the broadcast is transformed...

... into a signal which is then sent over the air...

... picked up on a receiver, and translated back into something...

... we humans can understand.

Let's take a screwdriver and look inside this old radio.

This blue chip is a radio receiver.

You might find a red transmitter chip in a walkie-talkie.

This little black thing is an amplifier.

That's what lets radios pick up long-distance signals.

Now, let's put it all back together. The trickiest part.
