VHS: A Stitch in Time

Hi there, I'm Gerald Grant. I've worked as a tailor in Louisville for almost twenty years.

Today I'm going to share some of my secrets to make your clothes last longer.

The basic tools of my trade are a needle, thread, a scissors, and scraps of extra materials.

Small holes can be stitched like so. Thread the needle...

... then pull and push it through at small intervals.

Cut your thread at the end, and tie a knot in it.

For larger holes, you will need extra fabric to attach, but the principle is the same.

Put the material in place and sew it securely.

With enough practice, you can even make things look as good as new!

Denim and leather items are tougher to cut and stitch...

... but with the right materials, it can be done.

And remember the old saying: a stitch in time saves nine!
