Konnichiwa. I am Yukiko Asura, head chef at The Wandering Sashimi.

Sushi is often misunderstood by outsiders to Japan...

... but I am here to show you this Japanese staple...

... is something even a beginner cook can learn.

At its simplest, sushi is raw fish with rice.

See? Simple.

Maki is made by adding seaweed, or avocado as is common in the USA...

... then rolling it into a cylinder and slicing it.

Mmm, delicious.

An onigiri has the same ingredients as a maki...

... but is a rice ball, instead of a roll.

And how about some fried shrimp, perfect for dipping in soy sauce?

And finally, the humble cabbage roll.

Now, you'll have a feast like you're in Tokyo itself.

Hope to see you at The Wandering Sashimi soon!
