Browsing ZomboidDB at zomboiddb.wiki needs no account. If you sign in with Discord, Twitch, Steam or Google, the site stores that service’s account ID, your display name and a reference to your avatar. It also keeps the email address the service gives us (Steam gives none) to contact you about your account. The comments, corrections, ratings and screenshots you submit and the survivors you save to your account are stored with it. A sign-in session lasts at least three months. Plans you keep without signing in stay in your browser’s local storage.
Every page loads Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies and sends Google the page address, referrer, browser, device and approximate location so we can count visits. Its use of that data follows Google’s privacy policy. On public sections, a first-party script also sends PostHog section and language counts without cookies; it honors Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Neither sends survivor names, saved plans or account identifiers. Analytics is separate from Google Sign-In.
When you use this site’s app in ChatGPT or another assistant, the assistant sends this site the tool it calls and that tool’s inputs: a search phrase, an entry kind, name or game ID, a language, a quantity and a result page. The site uses them only to answer that request and does not store them. The request carries no account, so the site cannot tie it to you.
Every request, an assistant app’s included, is recorded in the web server’s access log: the sending address, the time, the requested path, the response status and size, the referring page and the client name. Request bodies are not logged. Access logs are deleted after 15 days. Account data stays until you ask for your account to be deleted.
Signing out ends your session. To learn what the site holds about your account, or to have it deleted, email [email protected] and name the service and display name you signed in with. Browser settings or blockers can stop the analytics scripts.
